Willka T’ika Retreat

August 16-23, 2025

Journey to the magical land of the Incas with us! Peru is beyond words. Immediately upon stepping foot into the Andes you will feel the strong pull of the mountains and rivers. The Sacred Valley of the Incas stretches from Ayacucho (where my family is from) to Cusco, it is considered the spiritual heart of Peru. Join me with my dear friends and fellow teachers, Elizabeth Savage and Kim Michelle Coakley as we explore the awe inspiring Andes.

Mountains hold profound wisdom that remains through changing seasons. There is something deeply reassuring when staying in the Andes. Our retreat center is situated deep in majestic mountains views, steps away from a beautiful waterfall and surrounded by gardens of flowers and native herbs.  Every morning we will practice yoga and meditation, followed by sacred traditions and cultural experiences near our yoga home for the week. On evenings that we are at the healing center we will practice gentle yoga and yoga nidra to further integrate the experience.

ABOUT WILLKA TIKA- One of the world’s 9 best retreat centers!

“ Willka Tika is #1 on the must list!” - Yoga Journal

The Quechua name “Willka T’ika” means sacred flower.

Carol Cumes founded Willka T’ika in 1994. Carol writes, “I first visited the Sacred Valley in the ’80s and was so captivated by the powerful healing energy that I continued to return year after year. In 1994, I decided to purchase a barren strip of land where Willka T’ika now stands. As a longtime yoga practitioner, I wanted to create a retreat center synergizing Andean culture and cosmology with yoga philosophy and lifestyle. Over the next two decades, I cultivated long term relationships with authentic native healers and knowledgeable local guides. Integrating their authentic expertise, I pioneered and developed our signature ‘Journey to Machu Picchu’ retreats and uniquely comprehensive program itineraries.” To learn all about Willka T’ika click here.

Included experiences and traditional ceremonies:

DESPACHO- MOTHER EARTH OFFERING
The offering to Mother Earth (Pachamama) is part of the system of reciprocity between the spiritual world and the material world. The offerings to Mother Earth have their origin in the relationship between the millenary culture of the Q´eros and our Pachamama. The offering is a symbolic way in which the man returns and appreciates the fruits that she gives us.

TEMAZCAL- SWEAT LODGE AND COLD PLUNGE

It is a natural therapeutic experience of heat and steam, which is inspired by the ancient pre-hispanic practices of traditional medicine. Its use throughout history has been therapeutic and as a ritual-ceremony, the practice has survived through the years as a tradition of the various indigenous communities in America. The relaxation generated by experience impels us to a deep state of peace, introspection, reflection and full attention. Temazcal therapy is a beautiful and powerful moment in our lives, an opportunity to reconcile with ourselves, a unique experience of purification and re-connection with our inner source of wisdom and unconditional love. Closing a cycle and opening a new one in our lives, we release attachments, negative thoughts, fears and mental conditioning, delivering them to the heat of the stones Mama Willka Rumicuna grandmothers of the Earth.

MACHU PICCHU
A magical full day with professional guides visiting the Sanctuary of Machu Picchu. Machu Picchu is an Inca citadel located in the highlands of the Andes Mountains in Peru, above the Vilcabamba River valley. It was built in the fifteenth century, and is famous for its sophisticated dry stone walls that combine huge blocks without the use of a mortar, the fascinating buildings that are related to the astronomical alignments and its panoramic views. The exact use it had remains a mystery.

About Elizabeth Savage:

”Finding time to tend to our own sense of physical vitality and peace of mind often takes a back seat to the many responsibilities of our lives. We commonly start with a goal, but with each passing day of no action, the goal starts to feel as if it’s further and further away, or worse…completely out of reach.

My clients, many of whom are new to yoga, are looking to rejuvenate through a health issue or disease, or are athletes in need of a workout or good stretch, but regardless of the circumstances, all have had to move through the steps of starting in order to discover the joy, health, awareness, and sense of abundance that yoga can create in life.

When I started my practice as a yoga teacher I unknowingly walked into the honor of watching my clients transform, not only their physical well being, but their view on life as well. Yoga can be sourced for fitness alone if desired, but it rarely stops there with its cultivation for a sense of wholeness.

I am a yoga teacher. I hold space for people to unfold—body, mind, and spirit. Through breath, movement, and intention, I guide people through an experience of waking up. I am adaptable, working with all sorts of physical needs, desired goals, and ages ranging from 11 – 75+. My client reach covers fitness yoga, prenatal yoga, adaptive yoga for people with Parkinson’s, Lyme disease, auto-immune disorders/inflammation, anxiety and depression, and restorative yoga for regular sports recovery programs. I offer retreats and workshops meant to deepen one’s practice and explore awareness.

Yoga is my tool. Living fully is my passion.”
